Happy National Direct Primary Care Day! Why I Love Practicing Medicine This Way

I couldn't be happier to be practicing medicine using the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model.

And what's even better? My patients are happy about it, too!

Why wouldn't they be?

For years, patients have become accustomed to a healthcare system that often feels rushed and impersonal. Ten- or fifteen-minute appointments, months-long waits to see a physician, phone trees, crowded waiting rooms, and unexpected bills have become frustratingly familiar.

I wanted something different. And that's exactly what Direct Primary Care allows me to offer.

What Makes Direct Primary Care Different?

Direct Primary Care changes the traditional relationship between patients, physicians, and healthcare payments.

Rather than billing insurance for routine primary care services, patients pay a predictable membership fee directly to their physician. This allows the practice to focus on the patient-physician relationship instead of the demands of insurance billing.

At Hearthstone Family Care, that translates into several important differences:

More time with your doctor

Appointments aren't squeezed into a 10-minute window. Longer visits allow us to discuss your concerns, review your history, and develop a personalized plan.

Better access

Same-day availability when possible and direct 24/7 access to your physician mean you don't have to navigate layers of phone systems just to communicate with your doctor.

Unlimited visits and support

Your membership includes ongoing primary care without additional charges for routine office visits. You can reach out when questions or concerns arise rather than feeling that every interaction requires another appointment and another bill.

A more personal relationship

You develop a direct relationship with your physician. Your doctor gets to know you, your family, your medical history, and your health goals.

Looking Beyond Symptoms

One of the things I value most about DPC is the opportunity to practice a more comprehensive and holistic approach to medicine.

Sometimes the problem isn't as simple as the symptom that brings you into the office.

Fatigue, digestive problems, difficulty losing weight, hormonal changes, or recurring health concerns may involve several interconnected factors.

Having the time to listen, explore potential underlying causes, discuss preventive strategies, and work together on a plan makes a meaningful difference.

Rather than simply treating individual symptoms, we can take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Why I Chose This Model

After more than 25 years in medicine, I wanted to practice in a way that allowed me to focus on what matters most: taking care of people.

I wanted to have meaningful conversations with patients, build lasting relationships, and have the time to understand their health rather than simply addressing the problem of the day.

Direct Primary Care has allowed me to do that.

I'm grateful to the patients and families who have trusted me with their care and made Hearthstone Family Care what it is today.

Is Direct Primary Care Right for You?

If you're tired of rushed appointments, difficulty getting access to your physician, and feeling like just another number in the healthcare system, perhaps it's time for a different approach.

Hearthstone Family Care offers Direct Primary Care for individuals and families who want a more personal, accessible, and comprehensive approach to healthcare.

I'd love the opportunity to meet you, answer your questions, and explain how DPC works.
